What does LiveWires cost?
The cost of the holiday is £212 per person. The first £30 of this is paid as a deposit when you apply, and the rest nearer the summer.
Why has the cost of the holiday gone up?
For 2010, the cost of the holiday has gone up from £179 to £212, a bigger increase than we normally see from year to year. This is because Scripture Union, our parent organisation, have had to increase the portion of fees from all their holidays which go towards the costs of the central holidays office, providing staff support, insurance, CRB checks, advertising, accounting support, and so on. These things are essential to LiveWires (and to all the other SU holidays), and we need to ensure they can continue to run!
SU is committed to providing high-quality, low-cost holidays: our team pay fees as well, which keeps the cost per person much lower than most equivalent secular residential holidays for teenagers. Scripture Union have compared prices with other Christian holidays and the new pricing is in line with what they charge. We're a charity, and we budget for the fees to cover the costs of the holiday - both the central office costs and the holiday expenses are kept as low as possible - without making any profit.
Can you help with the cost?
The holidays brochure explains how to apply for assistance with some of the cost of the holiday. You can discuss this with our applications secretary if you need advice. Please do make sure you apply in good time if you want support: they take a little while to process.
